Desktop Computer vs. Laptop – Which Option Is Better May 23, 2017 By: SMITH THOMPSON 0 Even though laptops are quite compact, portable and extremely effective, desktop computers still remain the better option if you are looking for a better performance, longevity of components and ease of upgrade of components. In the last few years, people do not even think about buying a desktop computer believing that laptops provide them performance and quality. But that opinion is wrong and nanotek consulting will tell you why. Many computer users use a laptop, some for work, some for games, some because of the low price. Their reasons are different, but they all love these devices mostly because they do not take up much space and are easy to carry, but with that comes a great compromise. Yes, it is true that laptops are very compact and you can easily transfer them from one place to another, but the truth is that their performance is quite reduced. Although there are laptops with amazing performances that are more powerful than most desktop computers, most of them cannot compare to a desktop computer with the same price. To be able to use the laptop battery’s components it must be quite effective. There are processors from Intel that have consumption of 15w which also allows manufacturers to find an easier solution for the cooling method. In desktops there are no compromises when it comes to power or cooling, there are countless opportunities where you can put in a fairly compact body processor from among i7 7700k with quite substantial cooling that is more powerful than any i7 laptop configuration. There are many different models of laptops that come with built-in graphics or integrated graphics card with a CPU that pretty much limits the possibilities, but there are models with a dedicated graphics which are more definitely more powerful than the integrated ones, but they are a lot more expensive. And for the same price, you can get an incredible desktop computer with amazing qualities and performance. The cooling system and the flow of electricity prevents notebook manufacturers to create something more powerful than the basic models. There is a possibility, but these issues are stopping them from creating something really good. Although there are models that use desktop versions of the processor, but those are quite expensive and are not very compact, but are pretty much thicker than the standard ones and are quite heavy it is almost impossible to constantly move them from one place to another. The last difference is the ability for seamless upgrades in desktop computers. While you can increase the capacity of the RAM in your laptop, or install an SSD drive, you can change the graphics card or CPU, they are usually soldered on the motherboard. If a gaming version of a laptop would empty your budget for around 2000 dollars, a desktop model for that price will give you at least two times better performance and the best thing is that it will last longer.
